ReThink DRUMS & Percussion is the first company in the world to produce a 3D-printed drum set using recycled biocomposite materials. We made no compromises on sound – quite the opposite. The drums deliver a fresh, defined, and well-balanced tone, praised by drummers and sound engineers alike – both live and in the studio.

The response from the industry has been clear. While others are now exploring prototypes inspired by our original, ReThink is already in production and ready for the market. We’re proud to meet a real need: an innovative drum kit for conscious drummers and studios looking to evolve their sound – with both tone and tomorrow in mind.

Materials

The materials. Endless possibilities.
Each ReThink drum is custom-built. But at the heart of every kit is one of our two signature shell materials, sourced in southern Sweden:

Shell material DuraSense

A high-performance biocomposite made from up to 50% Swedish wood fibers blended with either fossil-based or ISCC+ certified biobased polymers. Developed originally by Stora Enso and now produced by Woodcomposite Sweden.

• Acoustic signature: warm, defined, with subtle damping
• Excellent stiffness and tactile responsiveness
• Matte, woodlike texture – finished or raw
• Fully recyclable and optimized for 3D printing
• Embodies Scandinavian tone with a circular soul

Shell material Ocean3D

A groundbreaking biocomposite made from recycled fishing nets and wood fibers – literally pulling sound from the sea.

• Crisp, articulate response with tonal warmth
• Resilient marine-grade polymer base
• Naturally green-tinted from recycled nets
• Mechanically recyclable and emissions-conscious
• A bold statement in material innovation for drummers who care where their sound comes from

Manufacturing

Our drums are 3D-printed at the ReThink Factory – a 3D-printfarm in Värnamo, Sweden, powered by recycled materials, renewable energy and pure drum passion.

• Printed in one piece using large-format industrial FDM
• No glue, no tension, no warping
• Local, on-demand production reduces waste and emissions
• Acoustic properties are fine-tuned through shell geometry, wall thickness, and internal print patterns

Each drum shell comes embedded with an NFC tag linking to a Digital Product Passport (DPP) powered by Whatt.io, giving instant access to:

• Material origin (e.g. recycled wood fiber, ocean plastics)
• Manufacturing location (printed in Sweden, finished by hand by a professional drummer)
• Lifecycle data (repair info, recycling instructions, version history)
• Tap your phone – no app needed

Hardware and Drumhead

Each drum’s hardware and drumhead are carefully selected to complement the material, playing style, and tonal profile. From lug tension to head response, every component is chosen to enhance the sound, feel, and quality – ensuring that each drum responds exactly the way the drummer intends.

Final Assembly & Testing

• Post-processed and built by Anders Köllerfors, Sweden
• Internal sanding, bearing edge carving, lacquer or natural finish
• Tuned and adjusted by musicians, for musicians
• Sound tested at Old Barn Studio, in a professional studio environment
